With less than two weeks to go before the 2019 FIBA World Cup, Gilas Pilipinas can finally practice with a full team.
The national team is still dealing with injuries, the latest one hurt being Matthew Wright, but Gilas Pilipinas finally has everyone onboard with the return of June Mar Fajardo, RR Pogoy, and Troy Rosario.
Gilas can truly grind it out now and the team enters the most critical stretch of its World Cup prep.
As it stands, the national teamis not in ideal condition just yet.
“Malaking relief actually,” head coach Yeng Guiao said on finally practicing with a full team.
“Pero kung tatanungin niyo ako ngayon, di pa tayo handa eh,” Guiao added.
The Philippines start the World Cup with an Aug. 31 showdown against Italy and time is running out to get some good practices in.
Gilas will make the most of their sessions as they look to get things going with a complete lineup.
“Itong last 10 days, importante satin, dahil nga parang sinalpak lang natin yung tatlo kahapon eh. Eh crucial yung tatlo,” Guiao said talking about Fajardo, Pogoy, and Rosario.
“Malaki pa matututlong ng mga yun sa team. Kaya tamang-tama na meron pa tayong sampung araw,” coach Yeng added.
