Gilas Pilipinas impressed with a nice win Friday over Australia’s Adelaide 36ers in a tune-up game.
The national team got a number of strong performances from Andray Blatche’s near triple double to Japeth Aguilar’s steady all-around presence in the paint.
RR Pogoy also showed his strengths with a late flurry of crucial points to close the game out in favor of Gilas.
Another player that impressed and made a case for his inclusion for the Final 12 was CJ Perez who came off the bench and provided a solid 12 points for Gilas Pilipinas.
“Good game para samin [but] we can do better pa sa offense and defense namin,” Perez said.
“Para sakin, doing the right thing all the time. Yun lang naman nasa isip ko lagi,” he added.
CJ certainly didn’t play a perfect game but his energy and activity certainly gave the national team a boost against Adelaide.
Gilas needs more of that.
“I made some mistakes kanina pero sabi nila coach, wag daw ako mawalan ng kumpiyansa,” Perez said.
“So yun, nakabawi naman ako. Maganda naman kinalabasan,” he added.
