Gilas Pilipinas Girls pulled off an upset of top-seed China, 14-11, Saturday in Malaysia to power their way to third-place in the podium of the 2019 FIBA 3x3 Under-18 Asia Cup.
Kristine Cayabyab and Angel Surada joined forces in the endgame, scoring the game's last three points that ultimately sealed the deal in the Philippines' best-ever finish in the regional meet.
With the tally tied at 11-all with 55 ticks to go on the clock, Cayabyab's putback granted Gilas the lead it would never relinquish.
Two free throws from Surada and three defensive stops later and the Filipinas were celebrating a big-time takedown of the top-seeded team in the tournament.

The history-making representatives from the Philippines were guided by multi-titled mentor Pat Aquino.
