The Philippines’ 2019 FIBA World Cup team is ready to go.

Suiting up for Gilas Pilipinas in the World Championships in China are Andray Blatche, Japeth Aguilar, June Mar Fajardo, Raymond Almazan, Troy Rosario, RR Pogoy, CJ Perez, Gabe Norwood, Robert Bolick, Mark Barroca, Paul Lee, and Kiefer Ravena.

This team came from the original 19-man pool and was formed after months of training that included a 10-day training camp in Spain.

The national team also played six tune-up games against Congo, Ivory Coast, and Australia’s Adelaide 36ers.

Sunday’s clash against the 36ers served as the final test of before making the line-up official.

“Mahirap, actually ilang araw namin pinag-usapan yun,” head coach Yeng Guiao said of the final Gilas Pilipinas team for the World Cup.

“Of course, there were circumstances that also played into the decision making,” he added.

One of the main considerations for the final World Cup team wer the injuries to several Gilas players.

Marcio Lassiter (knee), Matthew Wright (foot), and Poy Erram (ankle and knee) all suffered injuries during critical moments in the national team’s preparations.

Wright and Erram in particular, got hurt inside the final two weeks before the World Cup.

“Nag-factor in na diyan yung health ng mga players,” Guiao said.

“Factor din diyan yung cohesion that they provide with the rest of the team. Of course, overall yung nakira natin from first day of Gilas practice to the last day, which is the decision time,” Coach Yeng added.
