Forget the Olympics, Gilas Pilipinas can’t even win an actual game.

The Philippines had another horror start in the 2019 FIBA World Cup and the national team opened the 17-32 Classification phase with an 86-67 beating at the hands of Tunisia at the Wukesong Arena in Beijing.

Gilas gave up a score in the first possession and had two quick turnovers, allowing Tunisia to zoom to a 6-0 lead in the first minute.

The reigning African champions, who barely missed the second round with a narrow loss to Puerto Rico, rode that early momentum for a 27-10 lead after one. Tunisia was never threatened by Gilas the rest of the way, not even close.

Gilas had a slim chance of gaining an automatic Asian slot but that’s no longer the case after this loss to Tunisia.

The Philippines may not even get an invite to the Olympic Qualifiers now as Gilas remains winless in the World Cup. The national team is stuck with a 0-4 record in Group N and is actually in danger of finishing 32nd in a 32-team field for this World Championships.
