For a moment, Thirdy Ravena could not believe he was part of Gilas Pilipinas' 24-man pool for the oncoming 2019 SEA Games.
"It's an honor, siyempre, pero natawa lang ako kasi nalaman ko lang through Twitter," he told reporters. "'Di ako naniwala nung unang lumabas yung balita."
When it finally sank in, though, Ateneo de Manila University's top gun wasted no time setting his mind to do whatever he can do for the national basketball team. "It's a great feeling to be given a chance to represent the country in the SEA Games. In 2015, I wasn't able to make it to the team and now, ready na ako to give my all if ever I get picked for the team," he said.
On a personal note, there is also a chance that Thirdy won't be the lone Ravena in Gilas as manong Kiefer is just fresh from wearing the flag in the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
If and when both are on the lineup, there is some sort of history to be made. "It's always nice to achieve history especially if kasama ko yung kapatid ko. to be given a chance to play with not just him, but also other great players, I can't wait na ipakita yung pride sa country," the younger Ravena brother said.
