Two sessions into Gilas Pilipinas practice and head coach Tim Cone likes what he’s seeing with his 2019 Southeast Asian Games team.
The national team met for a second time Thursday, with all 15 players, including the still-injured Marcio Lassiter, in attendance.
Gilas didn’t practice too long, wrapping up in less than two hours, but Cone says it was a productive session nonetheless.
“We came in doing just a couple o things, and we did those things well,” coach Tim said.
“They did it quickly and they understood it fast. We had a fast practice, about one hour and 15 minutes, that’s our target. We don’t wanna spend the whole two hours,” he added.
With most Gilas players already in game shape because the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup is ongoing, there’s no need to put the national team players in conditioning exercises.
What Coach Tim wants to accomplish is to have his national team players absorb what he’s trying to teach.
“We’re not gonna do any conditioning here, it’s really about cerebral stuff,” he said.
“It’s amazing, these guys pick up things so quickly,” Coach Tim added.
