With limited time to prepare for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, Gilas Pilipinas will make do with what it has for the moment.
And with Jimmy Alapag part of the coaching staff, a target tune-up with his San Miguel-Alab Pilipinas is in the works.
“We're still planning, maybe? In two weeks? To have a pick-up game against one of the ABL teams,” Gilas coach Tim Cone said.
“Probably Alab, Jimmy's team. We'll see if that can work out,” he added.
Two practices in, Cone says Gilas has barely put together anything of substance.
However, the sky remains the limit for the national team and Cone is more than excited to put it all together before the SEA Games tip off.
“We're just barely beginning. We're just barely putting the foundation of our continuity offense,” Coach Tim said.
“We envision a lot, it's just a matter of prioritizing what we can get done. But we're all excited,” he added.
