Standhardinger is back in Gilas Pilipinas and he’ll be one of the key guys as the Philippines looks to win another gold medal in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

After helping lead no. 8 Northport to the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals with a triple-overtime upset of top-ranked NLEX, Christian Standhardinger shifts his focus to his other team.

Standhardinger is back in Gilas Pilipinas and he’ll be one of the key guys as the Philippines looks to win another gold medal in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

Two years ago in Kuala Lumpur, Standhardinger won his first medal — a gold one — for Gilas. Now, he looks to add another to his collection.

“I’m very honored that I’m part of this team,” Standhardinger said.

“Always honored to play with Gilas. I hope we can get that victory, that’s very important,” he added.

Standhardinger missed the chunk of Gilas’ games during the World Cup qualifiers and the actual FIBA World Cup especially when naturalized center Andray Blatche regained his spot after suspension.

The 2019 SEA Games marks as Standhardinger’s national team return after a mini hiatus and he’s ready to be the same scrappy big man for Gilas Pilipinas.

“I can’t wait to play in the SEA Games,” he said.

“Thank you for the trust of coach [Tim Cone], and I’m going to give my best to the country like I always do when I play with Gilas,” Standhardinger added.
