Already short one player with RR Pogoy out due to back injury, Gilas Pilipinas missed Kiefer Ravena Thursday due to a swollen elbow.
Ravena has developed bursitis on his left elbow but fortunately, he was back in national team practice Friday.
It was heavily taped and iced after Gilas practice at the Upper Deck Gym, the national team’s first two-a-day ahead of the SEA Games.
“Namamaga pa rin actually, nag-develop ng bursitis,” Ravena said.
“It was a previous injury that I had before and was re-aggravated,” Kiefer added.
As Gilas scrambles for time ahead of the SEA Games, Ravena’s bum elbow is another hit for the Philippine national team that has already dealt with some injuries to key players.
Jayson Castro was the first to go down with a leg injury a month before the SEA Games, forcing team officials to put Kiefer in his place.
Of course, Pogoy is out and Gilas is yet to replace the TNT shooter in the official lineup.
Still Ravena is positive his elbow will be good in time for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. Gilas plays Singapore on Dec. 4 to start its gold medal bid.
“Actually, it’s very tolerable. Hopefully pagdating sa SEA Games, di naman siya masakit,” Ravena said.
“Ngayon, back to practice na and a few more days before we play. Hopefully we have enough time to prepare for Singapore,” Kiefer added.
