The Philippines is set to unveil the 2019 Southeast Asian Games with the opening ceremonies Saturday.
Even as Gilas Pilipinas won’t necessarily participate in the actual opening festivities and they don’t play a game until four days later, national team players are definitely in that SEA Games mood.
“Ngayon itong past few days na nagpa-practice kami, talaga naf-feel na namin or nagsi-sink in na start na ng SEA Games,” lead guard LA Tenorio said.
Tenorio is a veteran with Gilas and is a many-time PBA champion.
However, the 2019 SEA Games is his first SEA Games ever. It could also be his last considering his age.
That’s why he’s looking forward to a gold medal, a prize that would complete his trophy case of sorts.
“This is my first time to play for the Southeast Asian Games. Nalaruan ko na lahat, naglaro na ako ng SEABA, Asian Games, World Cup. Ito na lang,” Tenorio said.
“I’m really excited. I’m really looking forward to play in front of our kababayans and to win that gold medal sa Southeast Asian Games. Dagdag medal sa trophy case ko,” he added.
