MANILA — Gilas Pilipinas just passed its most difficult test so far in men’s 3x3 basketball of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

The Philippines got a huge 21-15 win over Vietnam Sunday at the Filoil Flying V Center here, extending its perfect run to three games.

Both countries entered the crucial Day 1 showdown undefeated but Gilas gets to keep an unblemished mark, at least for now.

Vietnam dropped to 3-1.

Up three in the final minute, CJ Perez dropped the hammer with a slam dunk for a 19-15 Gilas lead.

Mo Tautuaa then finished the job with a booming trey.

Perez scored eight points in the win. Jason Perkins also had eight points as he continues his strong 3x3 run.

Tautuaa added three points while Chris Newsome completed Gilas’ scoring with two baskets.

The Philippines will wrap up Day 1 action with a game against Thailand.
