MANILA — It’s a Day 1 sweep for Gilas Pilipinas women for 3x3 basketball in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

The Filipinas managed to hold off Indonesia for a 16-13 decision Sunday at the Filoil Flying V Center here.

With the victory, Gilas women finished opening day with a 3-0 record, improving their gold medal chances for tomorrow’s action.

Crowd favorite Janine Pontejos once again racked up points, firing seven markers to lead the national team.

Gilas women got five points from Afril Bernardino and two points each from Jack Animam and Clare Castro.

The Philippines got off to a strong 7-1 start before Indonesia made it a game. Late hits from Pontejos and Animam sealed the win for Gilas women.
