SEA Games: Perkins stars as Gilas breaks Cambodia

MANILA — Gilas Pilipinas will go to the medal round of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games with a perfect record.

The Philippines swept pool play of 3x3 basketball Monday, dominating Cambodia for a 21-6 win at the Filoil Flying V Center here.

Jason Perkins regained his scoring prowess in 3x3, punishing Cambodia with a team-high 12 points.

It was a fast start for Gilas, opening the game with a 9-1 run.

Perkins then finished the job, scoring five of Gilas’ last six points for the win.

Mo Tautuaa added four points, CJ Perez was good for three, and Chris Newsome scored two for the national team.

The Philippines is 6-0 and will enter the medal rounds as heavy favorites for gold.
