MANILA — Jack Animam was left in New Zealand with an eye injury when her NU Lady Bulldogs completed a undefeated 6-peat in UAAP Season 82.
Jack just wanted a celebration and for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, Animam hoped to celebrate a gold medal with her Gilas Pilipinas women’s national team.
With a huge 91-71 win Tuesday against Thailand, Jack got her celebration.
More importantly, Animam helped the Philippines win a historic first gold in SEA Games women’s basketball.
Add their 3x3 conquest last week and it’s a double gold for Gilas Pilipinas women.
So sabi ko talaga sa kanila, let's go get that gold, and ito na nga yun. Finally, makakapag-celebrate na kami,” she added.
Animam spent her days alone in New Zealand crying. Still, she powered through, thinking that certain things may be happening for a reason.
Tuesday night, Animam was crying again. But this time, she was shedding tears of joy following a historic win.
Tapos nagdadasal lang ako, sabi ko kay God na, 'Baka may plano ka sa akin,'” she said.
“Kaya ganito yung nangyari, and ito nga yun.
