FIBA: Tratter makes good impression in first Gilas practice

Gilas Pilipinas is a bit short on big men to start the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers and so it helps that the ones actually showing up are putting in some good work.
Alaska's Abu Tratter joined national team practice Friday, days after he was called up to participate.
With the Aces' team building session down, the incoming second-year forward has made his way back to Gilas and left a good impression on interim head coach Mark Dickel.
"He's impressive. He's in great shape, he's improved a whole lot in one year, credit to his coaches at Blackwater and Alaska," Dickel said of Tratter.
"There's a lot of good players in the PBA, they just need an opportunity," he added.
Even with just practice down, Tratter has shown more than enough to be in consideration for Gilas Pilipinas.
Abu has had past stints with the national team before, most notably suiting up when the Philippines took on Australia on the road in the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
"For us it's great, if he keeps playing like he did today, he makes our decision really hard," Dickel said of Tratter.
