The reality of the situation is setting in for Gilas Pilipinas.
On Thursday evening, the national team got one of their last practices in before they leave for Indonesia Friday to start the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers.
With a final 12-man lineup on deck, Gilas went to work with a pretty simple goal in mind.
"I expect it to be a difficult game, but it will be really good for us," interim head coach Mark Dickel said.
"I feel like the last couple of weeks in practice, we've made good strides. Sunday's a chance to prove that," he added.
The national team will squeeze one more practice in Manila on Friday before leaving for Indonesia.
They'll take as many chances as they get to try and get the final 12 going as one cohesive unit.
"We're getting an idea, but we don't really have a whole lot of preparation time to go into it." Dickel said.
"We're just excited. I think we'll play a good game on Sunday," he added.
Dickel still has his concerns over the national team but the confidence with his current group is prevailing over any doubts.
"You're always concerned because you don't know how it's gonna look in the game, but I'm feeling more and more confident each day," he said.
"The guys seem to understand more what we're trying to get them to do," Dickel added.
