21-year old Filipino Miguel Tabuena claimed his first Asian Tour title, Sunday afternoon after taking home the Philippine Open presented by ITCSI.
Tabuena finished at 14-under-par 202 after three rounds, and sealed the win with a six-under par 66 third round, just a shot ahead of Australia’s Scott Barr.
The hometown kid, who came up short in his previous attempts at an Asian Tour title earlier this year, ils the first Pinoy to win in his National Open since 2008.
““I’m glad the Philippine Open is my first Asian Tour title,” said Tabuena. “I’m really happy that my name will be on this prestigious trophy alongside some of the legends in golf in Asia’s oldest National Open.” Tabuena said in an interview on the Asian Tour website.
“I played really well here before and I won on this course on the local circuit. I’m without words really. I’m happy and glad with the victory,” Tabuena added. He takes home a whopping $300,000 for the prestigious tournament win.
