"Before thinking about the Olympics, I really wish this season to be perfect."
South Korean golf star Park Sung-Hyun admits that Olympic gold is on her radar, especially after clinching the No.1 ranking in the LPGA.
The 25-year old is coming off a tournament victory at the 2019 HSBC Women's Championships in Singapore, and recently passed Thailand's Ariya Jutanugarn for number one in the world.
The immediate goal now, is for her to maintain that ranking for as long as she can.
"I'll just try to maintain the world ranking number one longer than the last year," Park said at her official introductory press conference at the Solaire Resort and Casino. "Even though I am still young, I don't find myself successful there yet, that means I have a lot to go, so I'm just going to keep doing what I have been doing."
With the 2020 Olympics just around the corner, Park admits that a stint in the Summer Games in Tokyo could be on the horizon.
"Playing in the Olympics could be a priority, and if I play in the Olympics, then a gold medal would be my goal," she stated. "But before that, I really [want to] finish this season strong, and I really want to have a perfect season."
"Before thinking about the Olympics, I really wish this season to be perfect," she continued.
Park is in the country as she was introduced as the new brand ambassador for Solaire Resorts and Casino. The two-year agreement will have park wearing the logo of the Manila-based resorts on her playing gear.
She will also be taking part in the 2019 The Country Club Ladies Invitational Tournament, which will be held at The Country Club in Sta. Rosa, Laguna from March 6-8.
The $100,000 tournament will also feature Filipina stars such as LPGA veteran Dottie Ardinas, amateur star and Asian Games gold medalist Yuka Saso, as well as competitors from Taiwan, Thailand, and South Korea.
