Yuka Saso finishes tied at 5th, pockets P4M in Japan LPGA debut

Filipino-Japanese lady golfer Yuka Saso finished tied at fifth spot in the Japan LPGA's Earth Mondahmin Cup at the Camellia Hills Country Club in Chiba, Japan on Monday.
Saso, who won two gold medals for the Philippines in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, closed out with a four-under-par 68 in the rain-delayed tourney to wound up with nine-under-par 279 in her pro debut.
Hometown bet Ayaka Watanabe captured the Earth Mondahmin Cup via sudden death win over Ai Suzuki.
The 19-year-old earned more than P4 million from the fifth-place tie.
Saso started out great with a six-under-66 in the opening round highlighted by four birdies from no. 3 to no. 6 holes only to fizzle out in the second round with a 74. She carded 71 on the penultimate round to remain in the top 10 heading into the final stage.
Watanabe and Suzuki shot 68 each and were tied a 277 at the end of regulation. Watanabe won the first hole of the playoff.
Tied for third were Miki Sakai and Mizuki Tanaka.
