Filipina golfer Bianca Pagdanganan shifted her preparations for the LPGA Tour into high gear.
Giddy with anticipation for her stint in the LPGA Drive On Championship, an inaugural tournament in the LPGA at Inverness Club in Ohio on July 31 to August 2, Pagdangan has intensified her training over the past few weeks.
“Yes, I have definitely increased my practice time. I try to play three days in a row to condition myself as part of my preparations,” said Pagdanganan.
The 2018 Asian Games gold medalist and 2019 Southeast Asian Games double mint winner acknowledged she couldn’t contain the anticipation anymore.
“It’s a mix of nerves and excitement, but mostly excitement,” Pagdanganan said after wrapping up another round of practice at the driving range this week.
Pagdanganan and her father, Sam, flew to the US in January to acquaint herself with the conditions there, then the COVID-19 pandemic happened and they were stuck there in the process.
The three-day LPGA event, with offers a total prize worth $1 million, will feature a full field of 144 players, including world No. 2 Nelly Korda.
Though it will be shown on the Golf Channel, there will be no pro-am event and no spectators. Despite this new normal, Pagdanganan said her play isn’t going to change.
“I’ve been waiting for so long, so I just really can’t wait to get out there and play,” she stressed.
“I’m ready. It’s been a long time coming and I’ve dreamt about this since I was young,” Pagdanganan added. “There’s no better time than now.”
