"I can’t wait to compete at my best again." -- Mark "Mugen" Striegl after his victory over Andrew Benibe in URCC XXX last August 12.
Filipino-American mixed martial arts sensation Mark "Mugen" Striegl showed no sign of rust after eight months of sitting on the sidelines.
In URCC XXX, he marked his return with an emphatically quick victory over Andrew Benibe in their featherweight bout via submission by way of his signature Fil-Americana arm lock, 53 seconds into the first round last Saturday, August 12 at the Araneta Coliseum.
The win elevates his professional record to 16-2, with 13 wins coming via submission, adding to his list of victories over the likes of Crisanto Pitpitunge, Yusuke Kawanago, Ev Ting, Harris Sarmiento, Kai Kara-France, and the late Casey Suire.
Now, Streigl is more confident than ever that the best is yet to come.
“For sure, you will see more of me inside the URCC cage. I can’t wait to compete at my best again,” the 29-year-old said.
Because of his win, Striegl has the chance to prove himself even further as he cemented his position as a strong contender to face South Korea’s Do Gyeom Lee for the URCC featherweight championship later this year.
