WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN? (AP Photo/John Locher)
It’s finally happened! This is not a drill!
Undefeated boxing legend Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather Jr. has finally entered an MMA cage!
Now, whether he’ll actually be competing in MMA inside a cage…well that’s another story.
In a video posted on ‘Money’ Mayweather’s social media accounts Wednesday, the 50-0 boxer is shown entering an MMA cage, which of course sent the internet into a frenzy.
The following day, Mayweather uploaded another equally confusing video with him, still inside the cage, saying “2018. Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather. MMA. What are the odds?”
All this is interesting, given that Mayweather isn’t exactly the biggest fan of MMA, having publicly criticised the sport before.
In a March 2017 interview from FightHype.com, When asked about fighting UFC star Conor McGregor, Mayweather took a not-so-subtle jab at MMA: “Real men fight standing up, I’m from the old school. I’m not gonna kick my shoes off, I’m not gonna be in between no man’s legs, wrestling on the ground, I’m gonna stand up and kick your a**, that’s what I do.”
May weather and McGregor did end up fighting later that year, in what was arguably the biggest combat sports story of 2017.
Of course, McGregor had something to say about Mayweather's 'In-cage debut'.
Hahahaha very good. Keep up the good work my son.— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) January 30, 2018

So what do all these video teases mean?
As Mayweather put it himself, “What are the odds?”
