Anton Asistio scored 13 points as Bataan defeated Laguna in the MPBL on June 17.
Bataan leaned on a familiar face as well as a new name for a strong start to the MPBL Lakan Cup, scoring a 75-62 triumph over home team Laguna, Monday at Alonte Sports Center in Binan.
Returnee James Castro provided a big boost off the bench with 14 points to go along with six assists and five rebounds while newcomer Joe Presbitero broke through in his debut for the Risers with 16 markers, seven boards, and four dimes.
Anton Asistio also added 13 points of his own as the league powerhouse didn't even need big offseason acquisitions Sean Manganti and Alvin Pasaol in action for their season-opening win.
Mark Anthony Acosta was the lone bright spot for the Heroes with 16 points.
In the day's other game, Pasay held on for a well-earned 70-68 win against Navotas.
Don Reverente, Ron Lastimosa, and Jan Jamon all scored 14 points to bring the Voyagers into the win column in just their first try.
Kojak Melegrito paced the Clutch with 12 points.
