Paranaque and Bicol both have marks in the win column of the MPBL Lakan Cup following victories versus separate rivals, Wednesday at the Valenzuela Astrodome.
The Patriots mounted a furious fightback in the final frame to frustrate the home team Classic, 89-83.
Jemal Vizcarra waxed hot with 27 points to go along with three assists while Dwight Saguiguit brought the backup with 17 markers, five dimes, and four rebounds for the visitors who rode a 33-point fourth quarter all the way to their first win in just their first try.
Down by double-digits after three quarters, Vizcarra, Saguiguit, and Jayboy Solis all caught fire as Paranaque turned the tables on Valenzuela which eventually ended up losing its season-opener.
The Classic were paced by Chris De Chavez who had 29 points, eight assists, and five rebounds to his name.
In the earlier game, Ronjay Buenafe was a man among boys in shooting the Volcanoes over Pampanga, 82-70.
Buenafe wound up with 20 points, three rebounds, and two assists and was flanked by Adrian Alday and Alex Nuyles who chimed in 15 and 10 markers, respectively, for rookie team Bicol which levelled its standing at 1-1.
Holding a similar win-loss card are the Lanterns who were fronted by Mike Juico and his 14 points.
