Bacoor sent a statement that it remains a top team in the MPBL Lakan Cup with a well-earned 73-70 win over Davao Occidental, Thursday right at home inside Strike Gym.
Of course, reigning and defending MVP Gab Banal was at the forefront of the offensive with 19 points to go along with three rebounds and two assists
The forward troika of Michael Mabulac, Michael Canete, and Oping Sumalinog then contributed 10 points apiece in the Strikers' second win in three games.
Billy Ray Robles and Mark Yee paced the Tigers as the former finished with 11 points, nine rebounds, and five assists and the latter ended with 10 markers, 13 boards, and three dimes. With not enough time to complete the comeback, however, they suffered their first setback in three starts.
In the other game, Bulacan doused cold water on Bicol via an 83-81 victory.
Dan Sara showed the Kuyas the way to a 2-1 standing with 20 points on top of three assists and three rebounds while Jhan Nermal chimed in 10 markers of his own.
All of JR Alabanza, Junjun Bonsubre, and Gwyne Capacio also added nine points as Bulacan stood strong in the face of a late rally by the Volcanoes.
Bicol's attack was spearheaded by JR Ongteco who had a 15-point, 11-rebound double-double. Alex Nuyles and Chris Lalata then chipped in 13 and 12 markers, respectively, only to see their team fall to 1-2 after their late rally fell short.
