MPBL: Bacoor weathers Pasig storm for third win in a row

Bacoor took home team Pasig's best shot, Wednesday at the City Sports Complex and still came away with a well-earned 73-64 win.
As always, reigning and defending MVP Gab Banal put the Strikers on his back with a 17-point, six-rebound, and four-assist effort for their third win in a row following a loss to open the MPBL Lakan Cup.
Ian Melencio then contributed 12 points and five rebounds while all of Michael Mabulac, Mark Montuano, and Oping Sumalinog chipped in eight markers as the visitors proved their character to stay streaking.
Robbie Manalang fronted the effort for the Realtors with 16 points. Unable to overcome an off-game from main man Jeric Teng who only had 10 points in 3-of-16 shooting from the field, however, they absorbed their second defeat in three outings.
Meanwhile, Laguna pulled off an 85-81 upset of Cebu in overtime.
Allan Mangahas fell two assists shy of a triple-double with 24 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists, but most importantly, hit the floater that proved to be the difference between the two teams.
Mark Anthony Acosta and Kyle Neypes then chimed in 13 and 12 markers, respectively, as the Heroes flew to a 2-2 standing.
Sporting the same slate are the Sharks who were paced by Patrick Cabahug who scored 20 points as well as William Mcaloney who posted a 17-marker, 19-rebound double-double.
In the day's other game, Bicol erupted for a 86-67 rout of Marikina.
Jerome Garcia and Ronjay Buenafe showed the Volcanoes the way to 2-2 as the former finished with 21 points and seven rebounds while the latter ended with 20 markers and six assists.
On the other hand, JJ Espanola had 18 points to top the scoring column for the Shoemasters who remained through after four tries.
