Pampanga gave its home crowd inside the Angeles University Foundation Gym every reason to be happy on Saturday and ultimately took a thrilling 69-63 triumph over MPBL Lakan Cup contender Bulacan.

Reil Cervantes was solid as always with 14 points and four rebounds, but it was Mark Cruz and his game-long brilliance that lit the home team for its second win in four games

With Cruz steering the ship, Pampanga dominated the final frame and outscored their opponents, 23-15.

The forward tandem of Felix Apreku and Michael Juico also had a big role in that, merging for 17 points and 22 rebounds.

On the other hand, the Kuyas just ran out of gas in the endgame and succumbed to their second setback in five outings. Dan Sara paced them with 19 points while JR Alabanza also added 16 markers and six rebounds of his own.

More importantly, this is the biggest win thus far for a revamped Pampanga side.

Meanwhile, Bataan finally got back on track at the expense of newcomer Mindoro, 97-87.

Byron Villarias topped the scoring column with 19 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists while Sean Manganti and Anton Asistio delivered key contributions as well with the former finishing with 12 points, five rebounds, and five assists and the latter ending with 10 markers, three dimes, and three boards.

The Risers also got strong showings from Alfred Batino who had nine points and 12 rebounds and Santi Santillan who had nine markers and 14 boards to even their standing to 2-2.

Also able to register that record is Quezon City which fought off Iloilo, 84-80.

John Tayongtong made his presence felt everywhere with 20 points, five rebounds, and four assists while Tonino Gonzaga chimed in 13 markers.

With their respective losses, the Royals fell to 2-1 and the Tamaraws fell to 1-2.
