San Juan defeated Rizal while Pasay defeated Imus

San Juan had no problems whatsoever in a 101-86 rout of Rizal, Thursday inside Manila's San Andres Sports Complex for its third win in a row to begin its title defense in the MPBL Lakan Cup.

John Wilson waxed hot with 25 points, including four triples, to go along with five rebounds and three assists while Mike Ayonayon wound up with 15 markers, five boards, and two dimes.

The Knights stampeded their way to a still spotless slate, dominating the paint where they scored 50 points compared to their opponents' 18.

In the end, Jhonard Clarito, Orlan Wamar, and Lester Reyes also added eight points apiece to help the defending champions score the 15-point rout.

Jansen Rios had 16 points to top the scoring column for the Golden Coolers who absorbed their second loss in three games.


In the day's other game, Jan Jamon and Ron Lastimosa joined forces to shoot Pasay over Imus, 82-65.

Jamon had 15 points and three rebounds while Lastimosa had 12 markers, four assists, and three boards in the Voyagers' third win in a row following a season-opening loss.

For the now 1-2 Bandera, James Martinez was the lone bright spot with 12 points, six rebounds, and five assists while Mark Anthony Doligon chipped in 14 markers, most coming when the game was all but over.
