Paolo Castro, who provided 17 markers, was named Best Player of the game in Bacoor's 53-point rout of Paranaque in the MPBL.

The Bacoor Strikers made history on Tuesday in front of their home fans in the Strike Gymnasium when they mauled the Paranaque Patriots - Yabo Sports 109-56 in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Season.

The 53-point margin of victory is the biggest in league history, 17 points better than the previous mark set hours earlier when Makati Super Crunch demolished the SOCCSKSARGEN Marlins 106-70.

"Sinabi lang sa amin ng mga coaches na sundin ang sistema. Pag may libre, tira, kung wala, wag pilitin," said Striker Mark Pangilinan, who led all scorers with 20 points. He copped the best player of the game award along with ex-Patriot Paolo Castro, who provided 17 markers.

Gab Banal and Michael Canete also shone for the home side with 14 points apiece. Bacoor shot 53 percent from the field against a Patriot squad that only muster 31 percent. Jemal Vizcarra's 11 point output was best for Paranaque.

Bacoor vaults to 9-3 in the table while Paranaque are a mirror image at 3-9.

In the only close match of the day the Mindoro Tamaraws fended off a determined Marikina Shoemasters side, 80-75.

Rodel Vaygan was named player of the game with 29 big points and 8 rebounds.

The Southern Tagalog club led by as much as 14 in the final quarter, 74-60, with six and a half minutes left.

However, Marikina showed heart to pull to within six off an Yves Sazon triple with three minutes left. Vaygan's dagger three moments later though restored the margin to nine. With a minute to go, the Shoemasters whittled the lead down to five with Von Tambeling's two-for-two from the stripe, but a Francis Camacho basket moments later supplied Mindoro with the clinching three-possession lead.

Mindoro still have a decent shot at the playoffs with a 5-7 card while Marikina are stuck in reverse on 1-10.

Makati Super Crunch began the day's action with a 106-70 blowout of the SOCCSKSARGEN Marlins that was a league record for biggest win until Bacoor made a new one in defeating the Patriots.

The Marlins were doing a decent job of keeping Makati within striking distance until a Super Crunch 11-0 run that featured a J Villanueva three-ball put them ahead by 34.
