Javi Gomez de Liano is ready and raring to take the next step in his young career.
Following his fourth and, thus far, strongest season for the University of the Philippines, the 6-foot-5 swingman is poised to take his talents to the MPBL where he is leaning towards seeing action for Nueva Ecija.
“I’m hoping to join Nueva Ecija,” he said while also adding that the formal agreement between the two sides, hopefully, will come before this year ends.
In the recently concluded UAAP Season 82, he put up per game counts of 10.5 points, including a 35 percent shooting clip from deep, to go along with 3.0 rebounds.
GDL will be a much-welcome addition for the Charles Tiu-mentored Rice Vanguards who want nothing more than to improve on their 5-16 standing at present in the ongoing Lakan Cup.
This will be the 20-year-old’s first appearance in the regional league as well as his second stint away from the Fighting Maroons.
He had already opened eyes outside Diliman in the 2018 PBA D-League with Marinerong Pilipino.
Now, Javi GDL is hoping his shooting and defensive energy will translate to the semi-pro ranks.
As for his fifth and final year for State U, the second of the GDL brothers shared he is still weighing his options.
