Amid the heated NBA Finals match-up between Cleveland and Golden State, Cavaliers' Filipino-American guard Jordan Clarkson still has the Filipino people in his mind.
In an exclusive one-on-one interview with ABS-CBN News' TJ Manotoc, Clarkson, who recently celebrated his birthday, dished out some fascinating takes about being teammates with Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, his Finals experience, potentially playing for Gilas Pilipinas, and more.
Speaking about a chance to someday represent the Philippines, Clarkson says it's still a possibility, especially with Gilas Pilipinas set to join the 2023 FIBA World Cup as the host nation.
"Hopefully one day I could compete. Definitely something I wanna do so that's never out of mind, out of sight. For them, I just want them to compete, try to get a championship. That's what it's all about, winning," the fifth year combo guard said.
Clarkson also bared that he has developed a close bond with Gilas mainstay and fellow Fil-Am Gabe Norwood.
Asked about Jaylen Green, another Fil-Am who is the top-ranked sophomore in the U.S., Clarkson has nothing but high hopes, as he offers the younger baller advice.
"Just continue to work, just prove the doubters wrong. People will always try to put you down, just keep going. Keep your nose to the ground and be the best person you can be," Clarkson said.
