The Los Angeles Lakers expect forward Kyle Kuzma to miss the start of training camp as he recovers from a lower left leg injury he suffered during workouts with Team USA, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.
The injury, initially labeled "ankle soreness" last month while Kuzma was on @usabasketball duty, forced Team USA to send him home from Australia after the third-year Laker was expected to land a significant frontcourt role for Gregg Popovich— Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine) September 24, 2019
Initially labeled ankle soreness, Stein reports the injury is actually a "stress injury" that needs more time to heal.
The Lakers will hold their first training camp practice Saturday (Sunday, PHL time).
Kuzma averaged 18.7 points on 45.6 percent shooting and 5.5 rebounds last season.
