Anthony Davis is next in the impressive live of Lakers big men.
Acquired via trade in the offseason, AD has fit in quite nicely with LeBron James, leading Los Angeles to first place in the Western Conference before COVID-19 forced the NBA to momentarily suspend the ongoing 2019-2020 season.
In 55 games, Davis is averaging 26.7 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.5 steals, and 2.4 blocks per game.
AD leads the team in scoring, rebounding, steals, and blocks.
In an #AskKareem session on Twitter, Lakers great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar singled out AD as the player that most resembles his game.
Kareem, who starred with Magic Johnson for the Showtime Lakers in the 1980s retired as the NBA's all-time leading scorer, scoring over 38,000 points behind his unstoppable Sky Hook.
Abdul-Jabbar says that AD is close to him across the board though Davis has the edge in one category.
Anthony Davis is the player that I mostly resemble but I never shot 3 pointers like he does.. However all other aspects of his game are similar to mine https://t.co/5sRO6fIFIY— Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (@kaj33) March 24, 2020
Shooting 3s has been essential in today's NBA, and AD seems like the perfect big to thrive in today's world.
Before a growth spurt that turned him close to seven feet, AD was a guard and his guard skills have carried over even as he's one of the top big men in the NBA today.
Kareem has high words for AD, and it's only a matter of time before we can see if Davis can live up to the comparison as a Laker great.
