PRESSURE-PACKED. Aldin Ayo showed no pressure in his first game as a head coach and instead ordered his boys to be the ones pressuring their opponents all over the court for the entire 48 minutes.

A new coach was roaming the sidelines, but it was the same old defensive intensity for Colegio de San Juan de Letran during their debut in the NCAA 91 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Clamping down via the full-court press coach Aldin Ayo intends to become their identity, the Knights turned 33 turnovers into 32 points en route to an easy 82-53 win against the College of St. Benilde Blazers on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena.

Letran surrendered no more than 16 points in all four quarters and limited their opponents into a 32 percent shooting mark from the field. Talking about their renewed identity, Ayo said in his post-game interview, “We want it the hard way. Ayaw naming mag-relax. Gusto ko mapagod (players ko) kasi yun lang ang puhunan namin.”

On offense, the Knights got contributions from all over the lineup led by 16 points from Mark Cruz to get their campaign of to a rousing start.

The CSB attack was spearheaded by Jonathan Grey who had 16 markers in their season-opening defeat.
