SET TO SHINE BRIGHT. Perpetual's hopes of a breakthrough into the Finals rest on the broad shoulders of Nigerian Bright Akhuetie.

Games on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena

2:00 PM – Perpetual vs Lyceum

4:00 PM – CSB vs Letran

At long last, University of Perpetual Help will finally get their first crack at fulfilling their hype in the 91st Season of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

The Scottie Thompson-led and Bright Akhuetie-reinforced Altas aim to spoil Topex Robinson’s debut as the new head coach of the Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena.

Tip-off is set at 2:00 PM.

With the reigning NCAA MVP and newly-minted 2015 Filoil Best Player in tow, Perpetual believes this is the year for their breakthrough into the Finals from three consecutive Final Four finishes. Fans already know what to expect from all-around Thompson and what will be intriguing to see is if Nigerian Akhuetie truly has what it takes to make a difference in the oldest collegiate league.

They will be meeting a Lyceum side seeking a breakthrough of their own under the leadership of a former San Sebastian College coach and player. After exponentially improving their record year-after-year, the Pirates are banking that Robinson’s winning hand is just what they need to make their first playoff appearance.

Meanwhile, two contending hopefuls in College of St. Benilde and Colegio de San Juan de Letran collide at 4:00 PM.

The Blazers fell one game short of the playoffs last season. With a more determined Jonathan Grey and talented recruits from Diliman, CSB hope this is the year that breaks their 12-year silence in entering the next round.

On the other hand, the Knights dropped out of the Final Four picture altogether in the previous year. With Rey Nambatac and Mark Cruz both stating that they aren’t used to and didn’t enjoy their early vacations, Letran hope this season will thrust them back into their traditional place.
