Adeogun returns as San Beda goes for back-to-back wins
I GOT THIS. Without Ola Adeogun and Baser Amer, Art Dela Cruz and a new fast-paced offense were enough to carry San Beda to a season-opening victory.

Games on Thursday at the San Juan Arena

2:00 PM – EAC vs San Beda

4:00 PM – San Sebastian vs Mapua

As if the strong start to their campaign in the NCAA 91 Men’s Basketball Tournament wasn’t enough, San Beda College can only look forward to being bolstered by the return of their hulking man in the middle.

Ola Adeogun is set to take the floor after sitting out the season-opener as the Red Lions take on the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals on Thursday at the San Juan Arena.

EAC and Adeogun’s debuts are set at 2:00 PM.

However, the Nigerian reinforcement’s return may not even matter with new head coach Jamike Jarin employing a fast-paced attack predicated on small ball. For most part of the Red Lions’ first victory, Art Dela Cruz was the only big on the floor, yet was the designated playmaker who scored 27 big points while also creating for shooters in Ryusei Koga and Radge Tongco.

Through their preseason run, the Generals also featured a small ball offensive of their own bannered by promising forward Sydney Onwubere and returning pointman Francis Munsayac. They may have drawn the defending champions in their first game of the season, but new mentor Andy De Guzman has EAC fully confident they can compete.

Meanwhile, Josan Nimes and the Mapua Institute of Technology look to build on their good showing despite a loss when they battle the debuting San Sebastian College at 4:00 PM.

Nimes poured in 23 markers in his first NCAA game in over two years and proved that with him leading the charge, the Cardinals will be a much different team than the last-placers of the past two seasons.

The Golden Stags also want to move on from their bottom three finish the last time around and are banking on the triangle offense of new head coach Rodney Santos to bring them back to contention.
