He may have been unable to witness firsthand Colegio de San Juan de Letran’s inspired play, but Manny Pacquiao sure did make it up to the collegiate team he now manages.
After trampling on Jose Rizal University last Friday, the Knights made their way to the home of boxing’s People’s Champion in Makati for a dinner to formalize their “partnership.”
Recalling the glee they felt when they met “Pacman,” top-gunner Rey Nambatac told ABS-CBN Sports, “Nung una, naiilang pa kaming lahat kasi nga kasama naming mag-dinner si boss Manny. Hindi pa kami makakain nang maayos.”
He then continued, “Pero si boss Manny, napakabait. Kinukulit niya kami na kumain lang nang kumain. Wag daw mahiya. Habang kumakain, nakikipagbiruan din siya.”
Asked what inspirational words from boxing’s People’s Champion made a mark, Nambatac said, “Marami. Marami talaga. Sobrang dami naming napagkwentuhan with boss Manny.”
The Intramuros-based school named Pacquiao their new team manager during a contract signing last Wednesday. Asked about specifics, coach Aldin Ayo answered that he was not at liberty to disclose anything, but is sure details will be made available sooner than later.
