BACK IN BUSINESS. After one week without action, the NCAA finally resumes to give us the excitement we need.
Games on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena
2:00 PM – Arellano vs EAC
4:00 PM – JRU vs San Sebastian
After a one-week lull due to a typhoon, the 91st Season of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament finally gets back to business on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena.
At 2:00 PM, Jerry Codinera’s Arellano University shoots for a second consecutive victory when they face Emilio Aguinaldo College while Vergel Meneses’ Jose Rizal University shoots for a bounce back win when they face San Sebastian College-Recoletos at 4:00PM.
After an opening game dud, Jiovani Jalalon looked very much like last season’s breakout star as he steered the Chiefs to their first victory at the expense of Lyceum. To keep winning, however, Codinera will need more from reigning Rookie of the Year Dioncee Holts who is yet to make any kind of impact.
On the other hand, the Generals stumbled to back-to-back defeats, but will finally have a complete lineup after Sidney Onwubere and then Francis Munsayac served their suspensions.
Meanwhile, the Heavy Bombers were soundly beaten by Letran the last time around. Cameroonian Abdel Poutouochi was unable to replicate his strong first impression as Meneses’ big backcourt was outran and outgunned by their tireless counterparts.
Meeting them will be a Golden Stag squad that features only one stud guard in Jamil Ortuoste who is then complemented by a variety of weapons in Bradwyn Guinto from the middle and Michael Calisaan from the wings.
