STEPPING UP. Dan Sara, Ryusei Koga, Radge Rongco, and Ice Reyes teamed-up to negate the loss of Baser Amer.
Coming off a definitive defeat at the hands of their archrivals, everyone knew the five-peat champions in the NCAA 91 Men's Basketball Tournament would look to take out their frustrations on their next opponents.
They did just that as even with the subtraction of the injured Baser Amer, the San Beda College guards combined for 40 points and 14 assists to lead the Red Lions in their 97-74 mangling of the Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena
Team captain Art Dela Cruz also turned in a near triple-double with 22 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists as the five-peat champions re-exhibited the fast-paced attack that was shackled when they suffered their first loss a week ago.
"Coming off a loss, we just needed to execute again," coach Jamike Jarin said in his post-game conference.
The Red Lions scored 27 points in only the first 10 minutes while only allowing 14 on the other end. Jamike Jarin's wards did not look back from there and claimed 31 points off their opponents' 26 turnovers to claim their third win in four games.
Guy Mbida had 13 points, but Lyceum was unable to secure the boards and allowed 14 second chance points to slip to 1-3 in the season.
