REMEMBER ME? Ola Adeogun re-exhibited his dominant self as he topped his averages after only the first half.
Among San Beda College's triumvirate, only Ola Adeogun has not made headlines early in the 91st Season of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.
That all changed on Thursday at the San Juan Arena as the hulking Nigerian turned in his best game of the season with 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Red Lions to a 73-67 triumph over the College of St. Benilde Blazers.
Adeogun had 16 points and 12 rebounds in the first two quarters as San Beda raced to a 41-28 halftime lead before a 20-9 third quarter surge brought CSB within two, 48-50, heading into the final frame.
However, the Blazers were only able to score another basket at the 6:02 mark of the fourth while the Red Lions poured in 11 unanswered points to re-establish a 61-48 advantage.
In his previous four games, Adeogun only averaged 14 points and six rebounds. Art Dela Cruz chipped in 10 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists as the five-peat champions moved to the second spot at 4-1.
The CSB effort was bannered by Jonathan Grey and Fons Saavedra who had 16 and 15 points, respectively. The Taft-based school dropped to 1-4 with the loss.
