BATTLE OF THE BEST. Only one between Scottie Thompson and Bright Akhuetie-led Perpetual and Letran's "magulo basketball" will remain perfect after today.
Games on Thursday at the San Juan Arena
2:00 PM - CSB vs San Beda
4:00 PM - Perpetual vs Letran
Early in the 91st Season of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, two teams have distinguished themselves from the rest and stand still perfect at 4-0.
Only one will remain undefeated atop the leaderboard when Scottie Thompson and Bright Akhuetie's University of Perpetual Help try and break through the non-stop full-court press of Colegio de San Juan de Letran on Thursday at the San Juan Arena.
The battle of the best begins at 4:00 PM.
The Altas were first to four wins with Thompson producing his usual effortless all-around numbers and Akhuetie exhibiting the dominance that validated all his preseason hype. However, the Las Piñas-based squad is yet to face a challenge of this sort as all of their victories came against teams outside the Final Four a season ago.
On the other hand, the Knights have stole all the headlines thus far in the season as their "magulo basketball" has already claimed victims in Final Four contenders Jose Rizal University and San Beda College. In their most recent outing, however, the Intamuros-based squad was nearly downed if not for the heroics of Mark Cruz and Rey Nambatac.
Meanwhile, five-peat champions San Beda College guns for a share of second spot against the slumping College of St. Benilde Blazers at 2:00 PM.
In their previous games, the now Baser Amer-less Red Lions rebounded mightily from their first loss in four games while the Blazers were unable to sustain their momentum and only have one victory to show in four tries.
