STANDING UP. Teytey Teodoro finally showed his real form with 16 points in the fourth quarter.
Highly-touted as a title contender heading into the 91st Season of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, something was off with Jose Rizal University.
On Friday at the San Juan Arena, Teytey Teodoro turned it on and rained down 16 points in the fourth as the Heavy Bombers lifted off towards a second consecutive victory at the expense of the Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates, 75-60.
JRU blasted off for a 21-10 first quarter and managed their advantage until the Pirates trimmed the deficit to 47-52 at the middle of the fourth. It was at that point that Teodoro took charge via triples and three-point plays to nearly match their opponents' output of 20.
The second-year guard ended with 25 points, four assists, seven rebounds, and two steals as the Bombers' advantage in turnover points, 21-16, proved to be their margin of victory.
Talking about his best outing of the season, Teodoro said in his post-game interview, "Nag-double effort talaga ako para marating namin yung standing na gusto namin kasi Final Four talaga nasa isip namin."
Joseph Gabayni showed the way for now 1-4 Lyceum with 15 points.
