WEAR AND TEAR. For the second straight game, Scottie Thompson had to prematurely leave the game due to injury.
For the second time in a row, reigning MVP Scottie Thompson was unable to finish a game after sustaining a minor injury.
A week ago, the University of Perpetual Help star twisted his left ankle and had to be carried back to the locker room. Last Tuesday, he again had to be helped to the dugout after feeling back spasms due to a shove.
The Altas’ leader was okay after the game, but also shared that his back was far from 100 percent while his left ankle was still swollen. Also, his right hamstring was causing some pain.
In fact, Thompson told reporters with a grin, “Buong katawan ko pinupulikat.”
The reigning MVP is by far the most taxed player in the league after playing 35 minutes per game through the first round. That’s only five minutes of rest from being Perpetual’s primary facilitator on both ends.
Still, Thompson doesn’t mind the workload as he said, “Siyempre gusto ko rin makalaro yung mga kasama ko kaya pinu-push ko na lang sarili ko.”
Altas mentor Aric del Rosario hinted that he may just order his star to sit out the upcoming All-Star Game to be able to rest. Asked about it, Thompson said, “Oo, parang ako rin. Siguro okay na rin yun kahit sayang.”
He also added, “Pagod lang talaga, pahinga na lang. After first round, talagang magpapahinga ako.”
