NO PAIN, NO GAIN. Scottie Thompson notched his third triple-double of the season even with his body hurting.
Scottie Thompson, despite having a hurting, still managed to come up big last Aug. 18 for the Perpetual Help Altas.
When he produced his third triple-double of the season, Thompson got admiration of everyone and this week’s ACCEL Quantum 3XVI-NCAA Press Corps Player of the Week award.
Thompson had just recovered from a back problem when he tallied 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 17 assists for the Altas, who capped their first round campaign in the 91st NCAA men’s basketball tournament with an 86-83 overtime win over the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers.
With their victory, the Altas ended the first round with third straight win for a 7-2 win-loss slate.
“Takot ako nung na-injured siya. Pero nakapag-ensayo before the game. Takbo-takbo. Maganda ang pakiramdam ng paa niya kaya nakalaro siya nang ganun,”said Altas coach Aric del Rosario.
Thompson, who was drafted in the first round of this year's PBA rookie draft at the Robinson's Place Manila, bested Arellano University's Jio Jalalon for the weekly plum.
