BATTLE OF WILLS. Letran seeks revenge as EAC seeks repeat to headline today's triple-header.
Games on Friday at the San Juan Arena
12:00 PM – CSB (2-7) vs San Beda (8-2)
2:00 PM – LPU (2-7) vs San Sebastian (3-7)
4:00 PM – EAC (3-7) vs Letran (8-2)
After a hot start, Colegio de San Juan de Letran has dropped two of its last three games in the 91st Season of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and it was a bottom three team that proved their vulnerability.
The Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals attempt to be the only squad to down the Knights in both rounds of the tournament on Friday at the San Juan Arena.
Letran’s revenge versus EAC’s repeat takes center stage at 4:00 PM.
The erstwhile league-leading Knights are coming off a loss that saw their offense come up short in matching their pressure-packing defense. The Intramuros-based squad has proven to be too much of a Mark Cruz show in tight games while it was a balanced offensive that has shot them atop the leaderboard.
That was the same strategy the Generals used the last time they met as Jorem Morada and Francis Munsayac outgunned their backcourt counterparts while Hamadou Laminou and Sidney Onwubere cleaned up the glass. The Generals look to rediscover such confidence to be able to arrest a three-game slide.
Meanwhile, San Beda College looms over the shoulders of Letran and eye to keep their place at first when they meet College of St. Benilde at 12:00 PM.
Art Dela Cruz’s career performance granted the Red Lions a win to open the second round back in first at 8-2. With Ola Adeogun back in tow, the five-peat champions look to get a winning streak going.
The Blazers hope for their own rebound after ending the first round at 2-7. To do so, Jonathan Grey will look to bring the winning vibes he got from the All-Star Game wherein he was named MVP.
The day’s other game features the second Topex Robinson derby at 2:00 PM as the 3-7 San Sebastian College-Recoletos Golden Stags eye their first back-to-back victories at the expense of the 2-7 Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates.
