RALLYING POINT? Mapua will have to find a way without their head coach as they continue their bid for the Final Four.
There seems to be something about facing Lyceum of the Philippines University that just ticks off Mapua Institute of Technology head coach Atoy Co.
Just like their meeting in the first round, Co was again thrown out in the fourth quarter of the contest between his Cardinals and the Pirates last Friday. His ejection in the first round was for unsportsmanlike conduct and this time around, was for continuous complaining.
While Mapua still came away with victories in both instances, their mentor’s total of two disqualifying infractions means he will have to sit out the succeeding two outings. According to NCAA secretary-general Melchor Divina, league rules state that incurring a second ejection in a season entails an automatic two-game suspension.
The Cardinals are currently on a four-game winning streak and are knocking on the door of the Final Four. They take on league-leading Letran on Tuesday and then streaking Arellano on Friday.
