Knights try to extend league lead against soaring Cardinals
TOP VS HOT. The league's top team battles its hottest in a crucial Battle of Intramuros.

Games on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena

2:00 PM – CSB (3-10) vs JRU (7-6)

4:00 PM – Letran (11-2) vs Mapua (8-5)

Right in what will prove to be the decisive stretch in the NCAA 91 Men’s Basketball Tournament, Colegio de San Juan de Letran looks to add another first to its already successful campaign when they go head-to-head with streaking Mapua Institute of Technology.

The league-leading Knights look to be first to 12 wins while the Cardinals look to extend their win run to five games on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena.

The crucial Battle of Intramuros is scheduled at 4:00 PM and will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on

Letran is back alone atop the leaderboard with only two losses in 13 games, but is entering a tough stretch with matchups against still contending JRU, Arellano, Perpetual, and San Beda following their battle with Mapua.

Head coach Aldin Ayo will once again rely on the potent core of Mark Cruz, Rey Nambatac, and Kevin Racal to lead the way, but also feels good in knowing that more of his role players like Mcjour Luib and Jom Sollano are showing up just at the right time.

Ayo won’t be seeing his counterpart in the other bench as Mapua head coach Atoy Co will be serving the first of his two-game suspension. Moreover, the status of top gunner Josan Nimes remains up in the air as he is yet to fully recover from a nagging hamstring injury.

Still, the absence of two of their main men just may be the rallying point for the already confident Cardinals who are knocking on the door of the Final Four.

Meanwhile, Jose Rizal University hopes to jolt some life back into their fading playoff hopes at the expense of the College of St. Benilde who are already out of contention.

At 7-6, the Heavy Bombers are currently ranked sixth and have to win out in their remaining schedule to give themselves a chance to advance. On the other hand, Jonathan Grey is only looking to play spoiler as he winds down his collegiate career.
