WITHOUT ME. Three players from three different contenders will have to sit out in their next assignments.
Three teams vying for the Final Four in the NCAA 91 Men’s Basketball Tournament will be without one rotation player each when they next take the floor.
Michole Sorela of San Beda College, Gio Lasquety of Jose Rizal University, and Denniel Aguirre of Mapua Institute of Technology will all serve one-game suspensions according to the league secretary-general Melchor Divina.
As per NCAA rules, a player who is thrown out of a game will incur an automatic one-game suspension in his team’s next assignment. Sorela was ejected after an altercation with University of Perpetual Help’s Kevin Oliveria last Thursday while Lasquety was disqualified due to his sucker punch on College of St. Benilde’s RJ Deles last Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a league review assessed that Aguirre’s foul on Colegio de San Juan de Letran’s Jom Sollano was above the shoulder. The forward joins head coach Atoy Co who will serve the second of his two-game suspension.
The Red Lions battle Lyceum of the Philippines University on Thursday, the Heavy Bombers clash with Letran on Friday, and the Cardinals meet Arellano University also on Friday.
