Lions look to regain share of league lead
RED REBOUND. Art Dela Cruz and San Beda are seeking to move on from their last-second defeat and get themselves back to a share of the league lead.

Games on Thursday at the San Juan Arena

2:00 PM – San Sebastian (3-10) vs EAC (2-11)

4:00 PM – San Beda (10-3) vs LPU (3-11)

Smarting from a last-second defeat, only their third in the NCAA 91 Men’s Basketball Tournament, San Beda College is raring to get back on the right track with a share for first place back up for grabs.

The Red Lions try to match their archnemesis’ league-best 11-3 record when they face the already eliminated Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates on Thursday at the San Juan Arena.

Tip-off is set at 4:00 PM and all the action will be broadcast LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 as well as streamed LIVE on

A buzzer-beating game-winner from University of Perpetual Help felled San Beda for only the first time in the second round. Even in the loss, the five-peat champions looked as formidable as ever with Art Dela Cruz still putting up MVP-worthy numbers while Ola Adeogun and Baser Amer were getting back into groove.

Moreover, even though key contributor Michole Sorela will be serving a one-game suspension, head coach Jamike Jarin still has more than a few choices from a very deep bench to prop up their veteran core.

On the other hand, the Pirates will be welcoming back second-leading scorer Shaq Alanes back from suspension as they attempt to arrest a five-game losing skid. Although already out of contention, head coach Topex Robinson still wants his young crew to exhibit continued growth that they can build on for next year.

Meanwhile, San Sebastian College-Recoletos and Emilio Aguinaldo College dispute the right to notch another mark on the win column at 2:00 PM.

While the game has no playoff implications, both the Golden Stags and Generals also want to earn some sort of confidence that their young squads can bring into next season.
